Explorations in Water and Stone

Milky-water-flowing-through-stones-369379-pixahive

What do you feel when you are in nature? Do you slow yourself and sense the place, its rhythm, temperature, color? Do you feel your belonging there? Can you harmonize with a place? Curve into the shape of stone and the gliding slope of water? Do you feel awe when you hear a river flowing? How does a cool stone feel in your hand?

Let us explore our relationship with water, and our connection to nature and our deeper self through the ritual of movement. Using movement practices stemming from Butoh, a dance and performance art originating in Japan, we will connect with the qualities and dualities of water and stone, and the yin and yang of ourselves in/of nature.

By taking time to listen, we can uncover the dance that already exists, emerging from within.

The word “ritual” implies a way of paying a high level of attention, of being mindful and receptive, of listening and feeling our environment. We are the centerpiece of our own microcosms. Ritual is a tool, or a key, to reset our capacity to hold a global, holistic vision of our evolution as human beings.

Ritual belongs to every human being, because we develop our cultures through rituals, everywhere on the planet.
